Our mission started in 2013 when individuals from the Moore and Park family travelled to our community in Berbice, Guyana, with Guyana Medical Missions Inc., (GMM Inc.,) team and witnessed firsthand the significant need for quality healthcare services in that area. We approached Dr James Cort head of the GMM Inc. team and discussed our concerns and expressed our willingness to fill that void. He agreed to add the Lancaster/Liverpool/ Manchester Community Center Clinic to his TEAM.
In 2014, The MoorePark Foundation, a 501© (3) organization was formed.
The organization raises funds year-round from various family members, individuals, companies, and groups in the United States to purchase medicines and other supplies needed to provide free Health care to all in need. Among the services provided are Medical Care, Pediatric Care, Ophthalmology Care, Health Education and referral services. Family members from the United States travel to Guyana annually with the GMM Inc., team to ensure that the goal for delivering quality Healthcare is achieved. Each year the number of patients seen continues to increase. In 2019, (the year before the pandemic) a total of 330 patients were seen at the clinic or had a procedure performed.
In addition to the annual Medical Mission, the MoorePark foundation has partnered with schools and have provided:
- Oral Health Care instructions to students and a Oral Health Care kit with tooth brushes, tooth paste, dental floss, a flyer with instructions on ‘How to brush your teeth’ and other goodies were given to each student who attended the class.
- Backpacks filled with school supplies were given to underserved students.
- Printers and other school supplies were given to assist teachers with their day to day needs.
- In 2022, $5000 US was donated to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Guyana Program.
The MoorePark foundation has plans to build on these ventures that we have started with the desire to make a greater impact on the community that we serve.
